New Pix

So yesterday, I made an ATC(artist trading card) for a swap about the first chapter of Alice in Wonderland, I just got a little lazy in using the scanner(still getting used to it) and so here it is. Today, my mother took me to the most wonderful museum exhibit ever! It was opening day of the 25 Years of Pixar exhibit at the Oakland Museum of California. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone and everyone, it is simply wonderful. So here are also a few sketches of people on the BART.

New Projects!

So yesterday, I just finished my website, which should hopefully have its own domain soon once I'm back at work: http://www.wix.com/SarahSteele/RoseRed. I also just bought the "Artist Trading Cards Workshop" book so I used a technique from it called Intuitive Watercolor, with my own twist(my oil pastels weren't water soluble)...so here it is.:)Notice how I used a scanner!(I finally got my parents' scanner working!yay!)

Weekend

So I decided to take the weekend off to see my Aunt in the hospital, my grandma and my little cousin. I hope her migraines go away...So I'm going to put myself back on track today. And I would like to start my own art journal. My boyfriend and I have a long distance one, which is wonderful, but I would like to start one of my own now also. So hopefully I'll be pretty productive with plans for those projects as well as some good, old-fashioned Artist Trading Cards(ATCs). I picked up some books today to inspire myself and I have to say, I can't wait!

Sketchbook cover

So today, since I need to restock on materials(most of them are at my place in Georgia), I decided to decorate my sketchbook. This is just what it looks like now...I may add some things later.

A Project a Day

So I know that I was gonna do a project a day, but today I tackled a project kinda different from mixed media, but slightly related:cooking. I've never really cooked and today was pretty much my first time and I actually love it. I made a baked rigatoni with eggplant and it was wonderful, if I dont say so myself. But to keep with my mixed media theme on here, I found a recent piece that I did to make up for today. Its called "Milestones".

Pooh Bear Inspirations

So today, I looked through my new issue of Sommerset Studios magazine and saw a project inspired by Winnie the Pooh, so I went off of that and came up with this. Sorry for the lack of scanner...

Inspired

So I just got done watching Julie & Julia and I have to say that I am impressed. I watched that movie with no expectations and it was absolutely wonderful. I have always been into mixed media and I love learning new techniques in my magazines and I was thinking...maybe I'll try them all each month and upload them or something. Who knows...it is 4:52 am here so I dont know how much I am going to stick through this, but I think its worth a shot. Maybe I'll try a technique a day or something. I've been wanting to give myself something useful to do and I do want to update this blog more so I might as well. Starting tomorrow, I think I'll try it...but I'm going into this with low expectations...cuz I'm usually more spontaneous than long term with projects like this. Who knows? Maybe it'll give my blog more exposure.Btw, no scanner is available at my house this summer, so I took a webcam pic instead...I know, unprofessional, right? But then again, I am only 18. This was a mixed media handmade postcard that I made for a swap for the anniversary of the first landing on the moon.
